Inside the St. Jude Dream Home in Stone Canyon, and what Owasso offers buyers relocating to Tulsa
Inside the St. Jude Dream Home in Stone Canyon: What Owasso Offers Buyers Moving to Tulsa
If you're thinking about moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, you probably want to know what life in the suburbs looks like. I'm Sabrina Shaw, a Tulsa real estate agent who helps out-of-state buyers relocate here. I toured this year's St. Jude Dream Home in Stone Canyon in Owasso, and it shows a lot about new construction in our area.
Where Is Stone Canyon?
Stone Canyon is a master-planned community in Owasso, one of the top suburbs in the Tulsa area. I think it's one of the best master-planned communities around Tulsa.
The Dream Home sits in The Coves at Stone Canyon, a gated section and one of the newer neighborhoods. There is still a lot of new construction going on there.
The Home at a Glance
Epic Homes built this year's Dream Home. It has four bedrooms and four and a half baths in just under 4,300 square feet, on a half-acre lot.
The St. Jude Dream Home is given away every year. Many of the materials are donated by sponsors, so you'll see features here that you won't see in most homes.
A Floor Plan for More Than One Stage of Life
This home works for empty nesters and for large families. That is something I look for with every relocation client.
One wing has a sitting room, a bedroom with a walk-in closet, and its own bathroom. It could easily be a mother-in-law suite or a home office.
Upstairs is simple. You get two more bedrooms and a cozy landing, which works well for kids or guests.
The Built-In Safe Room
If you're not from Oklahoma, you're probably worried about tornadoes. I hear that question from almost every buyer moving here.
This home has a safe room built inside the house, right off the drop zone. You don't have to go to the garage or outside, and a door keeps it out of sight. We're seeing this in a lot of newer homes.
Details Worth Borrowing
A few features stood out on my tour:
- A butler's pantry with a second fridge, a second dishwasher, and a full-size farmhouse sink
- A coffee bar with a two-sided fireplace it shares with the primary suite
- A lounge with a wet bar and a slider to the backyard, ready for a future pool
- A covered A-frame patio for outdoor living
What This Means If You're Relocating
You don't need a Dream Home to live well here. The point is that Tulsa suburbs like Owasso offer space, lot size, and features that surprise many out-of-state buyers.
The right suburb depends on how you live. That's what I help you figure out, and you work with me directly from the first call to closing day.
